Hair does not grow

                  - Many women wish their hair would grow faster, but natural hair growth and external factors limit rapid growth.
- Hair naturally grows 1 cm per month, which equates to 10 to 12 cm per year.
- The skin-soothing shampoo from noreiz in combination with the Thiocyn hair serum can compensate for disruptive factors and support healthy hair growth.
When women say, "My hair isn't growing," they primarily mean that their hair is growing too slowly. This judgment is entirely subjective, but can, in principle, be confirmed by science. The causes of slow hair growth are numerous and can overlap.
Normal hair growth
Women who want to have long or longer hair know that long hair doesn't appear overnight, as hair growth rates are natural and therefore genetically determined. Hair grows an average of 0.3 mm per day, or about 1 cm per month and 10 to 12 cm per year. It takes about three years to grow from a short hairstyle—hair between 5 and 10 cm long—back to 30 to 40 cm.
Slow hair growth
When hair grows slower than genetically intended—less than 1 cm per month—the desire to have "long hair" and try new styles, such as braids, becomes a real test of patience. In general, slow hair growth can be assumed to be caused by disruption, sometimes even blockage, of the hair's cellular metabolism. Some possible causes include:
One-sided diet
To grow well, our hair needs building blocks like proteins, which are converted into hair keratin, and carbohydrates, which provide energy for cellular metabolism. Trace elements like iron are also essential. Without iron, specifically ferritin, aerobic energy metabolism in the hair follicles is disrupted, as not enough oxygen reaches the hair roots for cell division and growth.
Irritated scalp
Because our hair follicles are firmly anchored in the scalp, micro-inflammations of the scalp can easily spread to the hair matrix, the highly sensitive hair-forming zone. Stress messengers trigger inflammatory processes at the hair roots. These not only slow hair growth but—as a result of the body's immune response—even cause hair loss.
Free radicals
Oxygen radicals, which are produced as a byproduct of metabolism, lead to aging processes in hair follicles due to oxidative stress. The rate of hair growth, specifically the division of hair cells, slows down. Therefore, it is important to regularly detoxify these radicals, which inhibit hair regeneration, and thus sustainably strengthen the hair roots.
Thinning hair
A special case of hair that grows too slowly is the very slow regrowth of hair, i.e., the delay of a new hair cycle. How does this occur? In a quarter of women, an estrogen deficiency – usually during menopause, but also earlier – can trigger androgenetic alopecia. This means that the hair growth phase ends prematurely. However, the regeneration phase of the hair follicles lasts longer than the usual two to three months. The result: thinning hair in the parting area, because more hair falls out than grows back.
Tips for beautiful, long hair
To improve hair quality, it is recommended to gently care for the hair with a very mild shampoo, for example noreiz Skin Soothing Care Shampoo, and mindful styling. The foundation for beautiful, healthy, well-growing hair without split ends is definitely a diet rich in vitamins and minerals.
Disruptive factors such as stress, free radicals, and hormonal imbalances can be counteracted by the active ingredient thiocyanate. Thiocyanate acts as an anti-inflammatory and free radical scavenger in the cellular metabolism of hair follicles. Cell performance is improved, and hair growth is naturally regulated and stimulated, despite numerous disruptive factors.
Hair does not grow longer
Regardless of the phenomenon of hair growth slowing down, one must consider the fact that hair simply cannot grow longer. The explanation is external influences that damage the hair, causing it to break off or need to be cut.
split ends
Longer hair constantly hits the shoulders and splits at the ends. This creates split endsIf the ends are trimmed regularly, the goal of getting long hair is delayed.
styling
Constantly high temperatures from hair dryers, straighteners, or curling irons can damage the hair structure and promote breakage by drying out the hair. The same applies to repeatedly tying your hair tightly with a hairband or elastic band. This creates a strong mechanical irritation that erodes the outer layer of the hair (cuticle) over time.
Shortened hair cycle
As a rule, hair cycles are naturally set so that our hair grows for an average of four to six years. However, it's also quite possible that the growth phase of certain hair follicles is limited to two or three years. Hair then grows to a maximum of shoulder length.
